Magliano di Tenna
All informations about this city

An ancient classification defines Magliano di Tenna as Castrum Ultra Tomiam, a possession of the city of Fermo.

Tradition asserts that around the year 1000, a captain of fortune, named Malleano or Majano, was the founder of the Castle. The ancient structure had six towers, but now only two remain, one of which is hexagonal. The circular layout of the 14th-century walls reproduces the atmosphere of the ancient historical center.

A citation from Brandimarte asserts that the toponym Magliano would derive from the Roman family of the Manlii. Magliano remained under the governance of Fermo until 1860.

Must see attractions are: the churches of S. Gregorio Magno, Madonna delle Grazie, and San Filippo.

The church of San Gregorio Magno, rebuilt in the 18th century on an former Farfa site, is embellished with a superb facade. Inside, it preserves a fresco attributed to Vincenzo Pagani, restored in 2007, depicting a Madonna with Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Lucia. At the entrance of the village is the chapel of the Madonna delle Grazie, built in the 18th century, boasting frescoes from previous centuries, including the Crucifixion. The Church of San Filippo houses the funerary monument of the Ferman architect Giovanni Battista Carducci, designed by Luigi Fontana.

You can't miss the Church of Madonna di Loreto, the remains of the 14th-century walls, with two towers and the Porta da Bora. Unmissable is a walk around the charming alleyways and squares.
