In this stage your eyes will enjoy numerous "wow spots"! It starts with a fantastic natural scenery, that of the picturesque Waterfall of Forcella, formed by the jump of the Tallacano River into the Tronto River. Nestled in this privileged place there is the ancient Pompili Mill, dating back to the 12th century. Crossed the Tronto river you get to the sulphurous springs of Lu Vurghe in the hamlet of Santa Maria, known since Roman times. Its sulphurous and rich in minerals waters flows blue at 38.6° at the bottom of a series of caves. The path continues towards the medieval village of Paggese, the small Ascoli made in travertine famous for its talking stones (Latin inscriptions engraved on the lintels of doors and windows). The church of San Lorenzo, in the main square of the country is a treasure chest of art. Cross the town and in a short time you reach Castel di Luco, a unique fortified structure located on a travertine high to guard the valley. Currently undergoing restoration, it will again be intended for quality tourist accommodation in a historic residence. Then follow one of the recently reopened mule tracks as part of the Project Antiche vie mulattiere di Acquasanta Terme to arrive in the hamlet of Valledacqua and the nearby Abbey of San Benedetto in Valledacqua, founded by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Farfa.Accommodation: Hotel Monastero Valledacqua

We start from the locality La Cona di Coperso to take a downhill dirt road. We are in the valley of the Castellano river, we skirt the course of the river until we reach the lake of Castel Trosino, a small village perched on a huge travertine boulder in a scenic position. From here, a plunge back in time will take you, in Santo Stefano district, to the famous Lombard necropolis, discovered at the end of the 19th century. After a stop at the Paci refuge to refuel, continue until Colle San Marco and you reach the Hermitage of San Marco, that is literally clinging to the rock face. It was chosen in the 13th century by Cistercian monks as the ideal site for meditation and contemplation. From here we walk the historical path that allows us to return directly to Ascoli Piceno, in the Porta Cartara district. Crossing the homonymous bridge and the Piazzarola district we are back to the starting point: the wonderful Piazza del Popolo!
