From the cross of the Capuchin convent, walk along the convent walls for 100 meters and then turn left. After 450 meters, leave the asphalt and take a dirt road that climbs steeply to the right. After 1 kilometer, you’ll reach a vineyard that you keep on your left to follow the dirt road to the right. After 500 meters, you’ll arrive at the top of the hill, where you can admire a splendid view typical of the Marche region, featuring mountains, hills, and the sea.

At the end of the vineyard, continue straight ahead, and shortly after, you can see the city of Urbino in the distance on your right and in front of you the Furlo Gorge. After 600 meters at the crossroads, turn right and descend slightly (if the path across the field ahead is open, you can take it to shorten the route). After 100 meters, you’ll reach the asphalt road; turn left and follow it for 1.1 kilometers before taking a trail that descends to the right. After 300 meters, at the fork, stay on the path that climbs to the left. After 200 meters, you’ll come across a cart road that you take to the right, descending steeply for 1.6 kilometers to reach the asphalt road.

Turn right and continue for 1 kilometer until you reach a junction, then turn left. This area, known as 'il Barco,' on the right bank of the Metauro River, hosted the residence and hunting reserve of the Dukes of Urbino, called 'il Barco di Bella Guardia.' Continue along the main road, crossing the bridge, and climb up to the junction for Montalto-Tarugo, where you turn right. After 200 meters at another fork, go straight ahead for about 2 kilometers on the paved road until you reach the water plant shortly before Sant’Anna del Furlo, where you can refill your water supply.

Continue on the road for 300 meters, cross the bridge (highway) and take the left turn onto the old Flaminia road, which you follow for another 700 meters before leaving it to take the trail ascending to the right (CAI 440A), a short connection to the main trail that climbs for about 4 kilometers. After climbing for 1 kilometer, turn left onto the trail (CAI 440) and, after 300 meters at the junction, take the trail to the right.

From here, the slopes are steeper, and the path winds along the Pietralata side along an old service road that leads into the woods. Continue for about 2.1 kilometers, where you’ll come across the entrance to a small cave. After two more turns, you’ll reach a plateau (658 meters above sea level). At the junction, take trail 440B that leads to the Furlo terrace on Mount Pietralata to admire, from 'the Duce’s head,' the breathtaking view towards the evocative Furlo Gorge.

Continue downhill on the trail. After about 900 meters, you’ll find the 'Il Furlo' Refuge, and shortly after, take the gravel road on the left that gradually descends to the village of Furlo. Continue along the main descending road for 4.4 kilometers, then at the quarry junction turn right onto the road that descends for another 800 meters, to reach your destination in the village.

Notes: Pilgrims are advised, upon arriving in Fossombrone, to take a short walk to the Church of the Holy Annunciation, which unfortunately cannot be visited inside. It is from here that the promoters of the Capuchin reform, Friar Ludovico and Friar Raffaele Tenaglia from Fossombrone, fled in the summer of 1525, before departing the next day from the Colle dei Santi.
