Montefiore dell'Aso
All informations about this city
Montefiore dell’Aso is a small village in the Piceno area, that offers panoramic views over the surrounding  landscape, from the coast to the Sibillini Mountains. It belongs to the association of The most beautiful villages in Italy. The old town is protected by walls. Piazza della Repubblica is dominated by the paleochristian  Collegiate Church of Saint Lucia, later rebuilt in neoclassical style. The ancient monastery of San Francesco now houses a museum, with a remarkable collection of works of art, like a series of painted panels by Carlo Crivelli. The finest of these, depicting Saint Mary Magdalene, is reckoned to be among the artist's most beautiful figures. The museum Adolfo De Carolis documents the activity of the woodcut  artist born in Montefiore dell’Aso. Next to the museum there’s  the fourteenth century church of San Francesco, boasting fourteenth century frescoes in the upper part of the apse.
