Trecastelli is a municipality with 7, 605 inhabitants and it’s in central Marche, in the province of Ancona.

It’s been created by the unification of three municipalities: Ripe, Castel Colonna and Monterado.

Castel Colonna (Italian Green Flag for the safeguard of environment and landscape, promotion of local produce and better living conditions for farmers and local inhabitants ) is on a rocky spur and it’s partly surrounded by defensive walls . From the town bastions you can enjoy a nice view over the surrounding fertile land, which has been shaped depending on human needs: old castles are at the top of the hills whereas cultivated land is dotted with white farms.

The medieval centre is perfectly preserved and characterized by narrow streets, small squares and picturesque alleys. The old walkways around the battlement of the castle can still be used and part of the town walls, which are strangely in the shape of a ship, are well preserved.

Monterado is a hilly town and it was founded in the Middle Ages in a place which had already been inhabited, probably by Lombards as the name of the town itself suggests ( Rado is a Lombard name). Only few monuments are left of the past, among which the imposing 17th century mansion within which a 15th century castle is enclosed.

Ripe is a hilly town which was founded in the Middle Ages and previously inhabited in ancient times. It’s well- known for manual iron moulding and for the thriving network of small and medium companies. Of great interest is the lordly mansion belonging to the Counts Castracani-Antelminelli-Augusti, inside of which frescoes in Pompeian Style and a joining gallery in antique French style can be seen. In Ripe there are both old and new jobs and this is why a local association has been founded in order to promote and protect local enterprises of artistic craftsmanship. In the town centre there’s the “Bottega dei Mestieri”, a room where you can see a permanent exhibition of some artworks by artisans belonging to the association.

Da Senigallia alla scoperta della vallata del Fiume Misa
From the sea, up and down soft hills and ancient villages, feast of colors, harmony and balance between history and nature.Medium difficulty tour that winds on rolling hills, passable all year round, but preferably in spring-summer and autumn. Characteristic of this route are the non-dangerous roads that wind on the ridges with low intensity of motorised traffic, the beauty of the views with the colors of the countryside and finally the many medieval villages that meet, rich in history and art. For wine lovers do not miss a stop at one of the many wineries that are on the route, to taste the fine local wines.It starts from Senigallia with a northerly direction on the western promenade. After 10 km on the Strada della Bruciata that runs along the River Cesano, go up for 2 km to Monterado, municipality of Trecastelli. From here the road, almost without traffic, runs on the ridge and takes us to Corinaldo. After visiting this typical medieval village, go up on the road in the direction of Castelleone di Suasa, with a short stop at one of the many viewpoints. A short detour allows you to visit the Archaeological Park of ancient Suasa. From Castelleone downhill for 3 km to the Provincial Corinaldese and then go up to Ostra Vetere. The road on the ridge towards Barbara, with the mountains in the background, is worth a stop and some photos. From Barbara you go down to the Arceviese Provincial Road and then climb again to Serra de' Conti and Montecarotto, which is the highest point of the route. On the hills among the Verdicchio vineyards, you reach Ostra and from here to Sant'Angelo, to return to Senigallia with a long and exciting descent to the sea."Please refer to the websites and classic tourist guides for the retrieval of information on sites of archaeological, cultural and naturalistic interest that meet along the itinerary".

Spicello
A short route, but very varied and technical for the characteristics of the road surface, for the continuous ups and downs and for the panoramic views.  For much of the trail, it has been shrouded in the total silence of the countryside. The absence of noise enhances the sounds of nature and amplifies the relationship with the landscape. Spicello is a small agglomeration of houses with about 30 inhabitants and with the Church of St. Joseph, wanted and built by the locals, now a destination for frequent pilgrimages. From Montecucco the view ranges over the hills that slope gently to the sea.From Senigallia you go to Cesano on the Lungomare di Ponente. After the bridge over the river, take Via Cesanense and Via Bastia to the Roundabout on the Provincial road Pergolese. After the double tunnel under the Highway you climb on the dirt road of Via Monteciappellano and from here continue to San Costanzo. In Solfanuccio, turn right and take the Vencareto Road downhill to the Rio Stream and then uphill on a dirt road for 4 km on the Rio Road to Spicello. For a short time follow the provincial road in the direction of Montecucco. From here you can continue almost always downhill on the Monte Bugaro and Piagiolino Road, with a partly broken road surface. On dirt road you walk along Via Santo Stefano and then Via Casale to Ponte Rio. After passing the village you turn right in the middle of the countryside on a small road that runs on the right side of the Rio, up to Molino Vecchio. Finally, return to the asphalt to the Cesano Bridge and then to Senigallia.

Querciabella
This trail is not far from Senigallia and from the sea, yet in some places the fact of being immersed in such lush nature, in the midst of centuries-old oaktrees, with panoramic views of the mountains and the surrounding countryside makes us forget where we are. The view of Corinaldo from Via delle Ville and the visit of this medieval village and the archaeological site of Santa Maria del Portuno, make this experience even richer.From Senigallia uphill to the hamlet Gabriella, with a panoramic view of the sea, up to Ancona and Monte Conero. Following the Ferriero Road you reach Sant'Angelo. After passing the village after a short climb, turn right and take the Querciabella road. A long descent with some small uphill stretches takes us to Bettolelle and then the cross on the Misa river in Brugnetto.  Passing on small roads partly dirt roads you get to Passo Ripe.  A non-demanding climb up to Ripe and then Castel Colonna. At the Croce hamlet, turn left onto the ridge road towards Corinaldo. At the crossroads take Via delle Ville. From here, especially with the morning light, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Corinaldo, with the profile of the mountains in the background. From the roundabout on the provincial road Corinaldese you go up to Corinaldo. From here downhill to Madonna del Piano, with a stop and visit of the archaeological site adjacent to the Church of Santa Maria di Portuno.  Then continue along the road of the Bruciata to Cesano, to finally return to Senigallia

Il Sentiero Marino - Senigallia - Trecastelli
Poco lontana da Ancona, il capoluogo di provincia delle Marche, la graziosa Senigallia è celebre per i suoi 13 km di spiaggia vellutata bagnata da un mare cristallino; per il centro storico di pregio e per i suoi eventi estivi come il Summer Jamboree che richiama visitatori da tutta Europa.Gli fanno da contorno i tipici borghi medioevali dell’entroterra marchigiano, dotati dicastello, torri e mura difensive. Brugnetto, Ripe e Castel Colonna, sono solo alcuni di quelli che attraverserete in questo bellissimo percorso.Dal mare alla collina, dalla modernità del lungo mare al medioevo dell’entroterra, unpercorso ricco di cultura arte e paesaggio alla portata di tutti!

Il Paese dei Matti - Corinaldo
Come mai questo nome? Corinaldo sarà il luogo di partenza e di ritorno. Una città con una storia unica e importante fatta di sconfitte e di rinascite. “Matti furbi, irriverenti, astuti, scaltri, abituati a dissodare la vita con la forza delle braccia e dell’ingegno in egual misura”: ecco chi sono gli abitanti di questo luogo. E, al di là delle facili ironie, Corinaldo può vantare notorietà mondiale in virtù della venerazione alla martire Maria Goretti, il cui culto non conosce appannamenti e anzi è cresciuto negli ultimi anni. Il percorso prevede l’attraversamento di borghi quali Ostra, Ripe e Castel Colonna; borghi di infinita bellezza immersi in un contorno di natura e bellezza rurale.

Itinerary not particularly tiring, which from Montalfoglio leads to the sea along the road that leads from the excavations of the ancient Roman city of Suasa, to Corinaldo, a village among the most beautiful in Italy with intact medieval walls. Continuing towards Monterado, you will quickly reach the beaches of Senigallia, a city characterized by an urban plan of Roman foundation with the majestic Rocca Roveresca and unique in its kind, the Rotonda construction dating back to the sixties. Going up along the Adriatic to the north, once you reach Marotta you will take the road for the hinterland towards Mondolfo up to San Costanzo, accompanied by a boundless view of the sea. The itinerary ends with a pleasant ups and downs along the hills of the Roveresche Lands with the villages of Piagge and its underground caves and Orciano with the precious Renaissance church of Santa MariaNovella. Last stop Mondavio.

Bike & Tours - Percorso 9 - Da San Lorenzo in Campo ad Ancona
In San Lorenzo crossed the river Cesano, you enter the province of Ancona, of which Corinaldo is certainly one of the most fascinating villages.From here, towards Ripe, a village of ancient crafts, Castelcolonna and Monterado, further south Ostra, which dominates the valley of Misa, enclosed by imposing walls. We go down, but soon we go back to Morro d’Alba, famous for its wine: Lacrima. Monte San Vito is located on the left side of the lower Vallesina, from here it continues the descent towards Chiaravalle, birthplace of Maria Montessori, Before reaching the seq, Agugliano and Offagna with the stronghold that dominates the valley, then swoops up to Ancona, the most populous city in the region, clinging to the northern slopes of Monte Conero, an important port and city rich in history. From here, the route goes north parallel to the Adriatic for about 35 kilometers, up to Marotta where it resumes towards the hinterland.
