The excursion par excellence of the Sibillini Mountains, on the mountain that gives its name to the mountain range: Monte Sibilla. The departure on foot is from the Sibilla Refuge from where you start to climb towards the ridge. Once you have gained the first difference in height, the excursion continues on the panoramic ridge that leads to the summit (2,173 m asl), with exceptional views in all directions: to the north, immediately below, the Infernaccio valley, then Mount Priora, to the south. the valley of Lake Pilato, the Vettore, etc., to the east the sea, to the west Monte Porche, Sasso Borghese, Cima Vallelunga. We will go up to the "crown of the Sibyl", with a small passage on rocks through a chain, to pass near the entrance of the cave of the Sibyl. The itinerary is a loop and the length is 12.5 kilometers. The return will take place by the sadly famous road as a useless destruction of this wonderful mountain. Packed lunch at the top of the Sibyl ridge. Note. From Montemonaco go up a dirt road (5 km) until you reach the Sibilla refuge, from which you start on foot. So if you can choose a car go for the taller one.
